Blogworthy moments missed; but the KSS is back!

Happy New Year, everyone!

*Snicker* Well, it's still technically January, Jan 31 to be exact, so it's not totally laughable to be giving the New Year greeting at this stage! Right? *Snicker*

Man, what a time for me to go off the blogging wagon! I mean...
  • Obama won the election. My O! face is permanently in place (?!)

  • The entire planet descended on Washington, D.C. for O's inauguration; rumor has it that one person actually saw O up close and personal, the rest viewed via Jumbo Trons

  • Aretha's hat makes history
  • Hillary Clinton was named Secretary of State

  • Dick Cheney claims he did not overstep the boundaries of the Vice Presidency. Not even he can keep a straight face when he reads those words from the cue cards

  • Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, in a bid to make money off of the Obama phenomenon -tries to sell O's senate seat. This act allows the beleaguered Eliot Spitzer to seem almost saint like by comparison

  • Bernie Madoff stole billions, prompted suicides, bankrupted charities, and yet still had the gall to whine about being held under house arrest in his Manhattan penthouse

  • Heather Mills boasts about being more of a guy-magnet than her gorgeous model friends, conveniently forgetting that the guys started chasing only after her networth skyrocketed thanks to Paul McCartney's refusal to sign a prenup

  • Brad and Angie continue to replenish planet earth; gorgeous twins added to the human race
  • Geese force a plane to land in the NY Hudson River
  • Layoffs, layoffs and more layoffs
  • John Travolta's son dies at 16
  • Paris Hilton tries to remain relevant - launches British version of her BFF show, and bores the heck out of anyone who still cares to watch her
  • The Hills multiplies, and brings forth The City. Success for Whitney! She's not as stilted as she appears, and her show is renewed for a second season
  • Britney is back! Daddy Spears finally embraces fatherhood and turns around his daughter's life

  • Heath Ledger wows in The Dark Knight
  • Hugh's bunny loft undergoes repairs. Girls leave, trash Sugargrandaddy, apologize, and continue to show off their younger stud loves. Hef consoles himself with more of the same - young, busty, blonde, and trampy (too harsh?)
  • Mariah Carey and Nick are still together (yes!)
  • Wall Street begs taxpayers for handout, while awarding themselves $20Billion in bonuses - executives get blistering tongue lashing from President O

  • People watch in awe, get goosebumps, as they see a relevant U.S. president - laughter is heard whenever anyone ponders "what would Bushie do?" if he were still in office

  • Republicans amuse all with their antics. Hillary lost, they pick Palin. Obama wins, they pick Michael Steele

  • The blackberry now comes in a flip phone!

And so, so many more blogworthy moments.

Well the K.S.S. is back! Happy 2009 y'all. Keep reading!

Barack Obama's US Weekly Interview

So how familiar are you with US Weekly?
My wife reads it.

What's your preferred reading material, then?
The books I never tire of are the ones I read with my daughters. Malia and I recently finished reading the Harry Potter series out loud to each other.

Do Malia or Sasha ever ask about Britney Spears?
Actually, yeah. But they're very sensible. They're pretty down on Britney and Paris and all of that. They think that's very "yuck". They're way more into Hannah Montana and Beyonce'. They got to go backstage and meet Beyonce', and they just love her to death.

What if they wanted to become actresses?
I would support any decision they make, but my instinct is that my 9-year-old will shy away from the limelight. My 6-year-old on the other hand, is a ham! I don't know if this will continue or not, but that's their temperament right now.

Are you a cool dad?
I think I'm pretty cool. I'm sure I could embarrass my girls, but I choose not to. [Even when I danced with Ellen DeGeneres], I thought [my moves] were pretty sweet. That's why my 9-year-old isn't embarrassed - because I can "bust a move," as they say.

Your supporters include Oprah Winfrey. Ever been starstruck?
I don't really get starstruck. Everyone I've met has been very nice and friendly, like Kal Penn. During the writers' strike, he was like a staffer! And Scarlett Johansson has been traveling a lot. George Clooney is a good friend. He and I worked on Darfur issues together. I'm always impressed by people who do their homework...and use their celebrity to advocate for issues. George does that just about as well as anyone I know.

Does Michelle have a celebrity crush?
She loves Stevie Wonder. I've been teasing her because Stevie fell off the stage at one of our events. I said to her, "This is your favorite performer, and you push him off the stage?" Fortunately, he was OK.

Name the songs for your campaign soundtrack.
I'm pretty partial to the "Yes We Can" song made by a group of talented supporters. A couple of others we play at rallies are "Think" by Aretha Franklin and "City of Blinding Lights" by U2.

What do you do in your free time?
I'll take a look at the sports pages to see how the White Sox or the Bulls are doing. Michelle loves Sudoku.

Your favourite foods?
I like a good chili, and cobbler. [According to Michelle, he "makes a mean chili!"] But in a rush, I snack on trail mix.

So, boxers or briefs?
I don't answer those humiliating questions. But, whichever one it is, I look good in 'em!

Britney Fiasco

Please someone reputable help this poor woman. Her parents have been unable to do anything. Neither her broader family, nor her "friends", some of whom seem more harmful than good. This is becoming scary.

On Thursday night Brit had another meltdown. This time she put her 1-year old at risk and had to be strapped down to a gurney and rushed to a hospital. She refused to return her kids to her ex and when it was time for the court appointed pick up at her home, Brit ran into her bedroom with her 1-year old and locked them both in for 3 hours. Apparently her son was screaming and crying the whole time and police officers had to be called in.

The officers said that Brit seemed to be under the influence and she allegedly had been drinking heavily prior to the officers arrival.

Brit has now been released from the hospital and is back home.

Earlier I asked about the Britney drama, "how will it end?" (http://kerijam.blogspot.com/2007/09/how-will-this-end.html). Now, I am praying for a healthy intervention. Britney is clearly a hazard to herself. Who can help her?

Pink - Don't Let Me Get Me

Never win first place, I don't support the team
I can't take direction, and my socks are never clean
Teachers dated me, my parents hated me
I was always in a fight cuz I can't do nothin' right

Everyday I fight a war against the mirror
I can't take the person starin' back at me
I'm a hazard to myself

Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
It's bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else

I wanna be somebody else, yeah

LA told me, "You'll be a pop star, All you have to change is everything you are."
Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears
She's so pretty, that just ain't me

Doctor, doctor won't you please prescribe somethin
A day in the life of someone else?
Cuz I'm a hazard to myself

Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
It's bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else

Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
It's bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else

Doctor, doctor won't you please prescribe somethin
A day in the life of someone else?
Don't let me get me

Is the Dynasty Destroyed?

Sad day.

Britney's 16-year old little sister, Jamie Lynn, is 3-months pregnant. The dad is her high-school sweetheart and it is not clear if they are still together. I was really hoping that Jamie Lynn would save that family. Please Jamie, there's still hope, don't become a train wreck.

Lynne Spears, Jamie's mom, said she was surprised by Jamie's pregnancy and doesn't understand how it happened since she raised her daughter properly. I think Lynne is living in an alternate reality. Case in point: Britney Spears.

I wish Jamie all the best and hope she makes wise decisions during this time for herself and her child. Keep your head on straight, Jamie!!

For additional details see the following article from today's New York Post

By KATE SHEEHY

December 19, 2007 -- Britney Spears' 16-year-old kid sister - Nickelodeon star Jamie Lynn - is knocked up by her high-school sweetheart.

The baby-faced blond star of TV's tween craze "Zoey 101" says she's already three months preggers by mop-topped Louisiana lover Casey Aldridge - an 18-year-old fellow Christian whom she met at church.

"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," Jamie Lynn Spears told OK magazine in its new edition, which hits New York newsstands today. "I was in complete and total shock, and so was he."

The teeny-bopper TV star said she first learned she was pregnant after taking an at-home pregnancy test.

"As soon as I found out for sure from the doctor, I took two weeks to myself where I didn't tell anybody," the teen said, according to The Associated Press.

"Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone's opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends.

"I was scared," she said. "But I had to do what was right for me."

The actress said she told her parents just before Thanksgiving.

But it's unclear if she had shared her news with troubled big sis Britney.

Jamie Lynn said her mom was upset at first.

"She was very upset because it wasn't what she expected at all," she said. "A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive."

Mom Lynne Spears insists she brought up her daughter properly and doesn't understand how this could have happened.

"I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious. She's never late for her curfew," the clueless mom said. "I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby."
It's unclear if Jamie Lynn and Aldridge are still an item.

The pair reportedly split in early November, to give Aldridge space as he began college in Mississippi. Jamie Lynn was spotted as recently as Monday laying low in Chelsea, taking in a movie with her mom, Pagesix.com reported. Nickelodeon, in a terse statement about one of its biggest little stars, said:

"We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well-being."

The teen, asked what advice she would give her pre-teen fans about pre-marital sex, told OK: "I definitely don't think it's something you should do.

"It's better to wait," she chirped. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."

Wake Up, Brit! You may still have a chance...

In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity -- Albert Einstein

I gave up Britney Spears several years before it was fashionable. I was never too embarrassed to admit that I liked her music. She was an edgy, charismatic performer with catchy songs. My period of loyalty ended in early 2004. I got bored when Britney stopped releasing music and any publicity about her was related to her love life (she married Kevin Federline in 2004).

In 2006, Britney - mother of 2 - announced her split from K-Fed, now known as FedEx. It was with mild interest I watched to see how she would handle this unique comeback opportunity. Britney still had a huge fan base and had removed the underwhelming and widely disliked FedEx. Post-dump, the news has not been positive. Pictures of indecent exposure and signs of risky living have caused fans to leave in droves. I don't care enough to be disappointed in Britney, but I hate to see her waste the opportunity.

I hope the new year will bring better news for Britney. If a miracle happens, I may even re-join the fan club.
