Obama wins South Carolina!!
With 99% of the precincts reporting, Obama has won South Carolina with a significant lead - 55% of the vote, compared to Clinton's 27% and Edward's 18%. Clinton had a lead with older voters (65+), but Obama maintained a significant advantage in every other group.
On his victory, Obama said, "Tonight, the cynics who believed that what began in the snows of Iowa was just an illusion were told a different story by the good people of South Carolina. I did not travel around this state over the last year and see a white South Carolina or a black South Carolina. I saw South Carolina. The choice in this election is not between regions or religions or genders. It's not about rich versus poor; young versus old; and it is not about black versus white. It's about the past versus the future."
Senator Clinton called to congratulate Obama on his win.
