The Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever

On the surface, an appropriate term would be “bleak”
Tension eats you and your lunch
You listen to the whispers of doubt
You don’t exhale – the confidence bulldozers are revving their engines
Of course you return to pre-school antics: woe is me, not good enough, not my fault, victim
You search for release
An anchor to pull you way, way above this mess
It’s the same source as always
Duh
He reminds you that if you crumble in hard times, then who were you really?
He’s training you; He disciplines those He loves
Faith is about the unseen
Be encouraged and wait
He’s never failed you yet

Just Have Faith

Psalm 27
Of David.

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.
4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.
7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.
8 My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek.
9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior.
10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
11 Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence.
13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Remember Him...No One Does it Better

Jeremiah 2

1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem: " 'I remember the devotion of your youth, how as a bride you loved me and followed me through the desert, through a land not sown.
3 Israel was holy to the LORD, the firstfruits of his harvest; all who devoured her were held guilty, and disaster overtook them,' " declares the LORD.
4 Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, all you clans of the house of Israel.
5 This is what the LORD says: "What fault did your fathers find in me, that they strayed so far from me? They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves. 6 They did not ask, 'Where is the LORD, who brought us up out of Egypt and led us through the barren wilderness, through a land of deserts and rifts, a land of drought and darkness, a land where no one travels and no one lives?'
7 I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich produce. But you came and defiled my land and made my inheritance detestable.
8 The priests did not ask, 'Where is the LORD ?' Those who deal with the law did not know me; the leaders rebelled against me. The prophets prophesied by Baal, following worthless idols.
9 "Therefore I bring charges against you again," declares the LORD. "And I will bring charges against your children's children.

10 Cross over to the coasts of Kittim and look, send to Kedar and observe closely; see if there has ever been anything like this:
11 Has a nation ever changed its gods? (Yet they are not gods at all.) But my people have exchanged their Glory for worthless idols.
12 Be appalled at this, O heavens, and shudder with great horror," declares the LORD.
13 "My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

--------------------
19 Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you. Consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you when you forsake the LORD your God and have no awe of me," declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.
20 "Long ago you broke off your yoke and tore off your bonds; you said, 'I will not serve you!' Indeed, on every high hill and under every spreading tree you lay down as a prostitute.
21 I had planted you like a choice vine of sound and reliable stock. How then did you turn against me into a corrupt, wild vine?
22 Although you wash yourself with soda and use an abundance of soap, the stain of your guilt is still before me," declares the Sovereign LORD.
23 "How can you say, 'I am not defiled; I have not run after the Baals'? See how you behaved in the valley; consider what you have done. You are a swift she-camel running here and there,
24 a wild donkey accustomed to the desert, sniffing the wind in her craving— in her heat who can restrain her? Any males that pursue her need not tire themselves; at mating time they will find her.

-------

27 They say to wood, 'You are my father,' and to stone, 'You gave me birth.' They have turned their backs to me and not their faces; yet when they are in trouble, they say,'Come and save us!'
28 Where then are the gods you made for yourselves? Let them come if they can save you when you are in trouble! For you have as many gods as you have towns, O Judah.
29 "Why do you bring charges against me? You have all rebelled against me,"declares the LORD.
30 "In vain I punished your people; they did not respond to correction. Your sword has devoured your prophets like a ravening lion.
31 "You of this generation, consider the word of the LORD : "Have I been a desert to Israel or a land of great darkness? Why do my people say, 'We are free to roam; we will come to you no more'?
32 Does a maiden forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments? Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.

Forgive everyone for everything

Congrats to Hillary Clinton on Winning PA!

Senator Hillary Clinton was the victor in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, April 22. Hillary previously won other big states such as Ohio, New York and California. Last night's win adds great momentum to the Clinton machine that her campaign will surely leverage to raise doubts about Obama's ability to beat McCain. Hillary gains most of the 158 delegates in P.A., however, Obama still retains the overall lead (and popular vote) with 1,694 in delegates to Clinton's 1,556.

Congrats to Clinton. Sigh. I was really hoping for a different birthday present yesterday.

Be Ye Grateful

I wonder if you will ever be happy
We have been in near perfect states together
The glorious high five moments
and you always seem to find something wrong

I cringe when I see you sometimes
I am sorry
My mind associates you with downer moments

Why so miserable?
It's not attractive
We feel pity and frustration
and a need to get the heck out of your presence

I want to grab you by the arms and shake a smile
through you system

Grow up and be happy

Circular Logic

It's a circle, it's round, it's perfect
We like the circle, we decided it's all about the circle

We wake up and you're screaming at us because the circle
isn't rectangular enough

What were we thinking?

We thought circle
Remember?
We breathed circles for days as you requested

OK! We get it...the circles need edges
We'll make them rectangular
We like rectangles
We're eating and breathing them...for now

Live a Little

Euphoria expressed as a frown
As if acknowledging success, and
momentarily basking in shared joy was weakness
You always seem to miss the point
It is these moments of joy that sustain us and propel us forward

Your stance is so draning
Give us some reprieve
We long for a tinge of silver in your permanent cloud
We CAN smile and achieve much
We CAN laugh and be great
We beg you to let the biterness go
Lighten up
We guarantee you much better results

Some Kind of Wonderful

It's still a classic.

I have lost count of how many times I have seen this movie over the years. I am yet to tire of it. Currently, I am basking in high heaven after having stumbled upon it again on cable TV.

Absolute cheese fest. Memories. Siiigh. Join me.

The Real Deal

24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
31 Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Proverbs 31: 24-31

Just Shuffling

Shuffling papers
Lip service
Portfolio of well-practiced, intent gazes
Overheard comments borrowed to look smart
First in, last out
Much ado about absolutely nothing
Posturing
Name dropping
Each day angering the hard-working masses
who are powerless to do anything
As you live happily ensconced in powerful relationships

Keri S. Smith

Empty Shell

This cannot be true
Such darkness, such depravity
and no remorse
I can hardly watch, but I do
Shutting it out would dishonor the victims

You smile as you recount your misdeeds
You dare to justify such cruelty
Your justifications are fantastical
But you cling to them, you repeat them, you make others believe
You have to, in order to continue to live with what you have done

I know you face hardships
Your journey has been painful
But, should the innocent pay the price?
You acknowledge you have wronged many
You can hardly remember the number you have harmed
You say you would kill, if anyone ever repeated your acts on those you love

Yet, it continues
You are now a slave to a horrifying habit
and the victims pile up
The stench is great
You have harmed too many
with no remorse

Something must change
The world cannot handle such evil
The innocent continue to scream out for justice
Their stories are being told
Hearts are pricked
Change is on the horizon
Please Repent

Congratulations to Beyonce' and Jay-Z on their Marriage!

Beyonce' and Jay-Z filed for a marriage license in NY on April 1st. With a potential wedding on the horizon, media outlets chased the story and rumours of an April 4th wedding gained significant momentum. Some felt that April 4 was a credible date because it held special significance for the couple: Beyonce's birthday is on September 4 and Jay-Z's on December 4.

Now word comes that the happy couple of 6 years were married yesterday at Jay-Z's Tribeca penthouse. It was a small affair, with about 30 in attendance, including Beyonce's immediate family, Destiny Child members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, and celebrity couple Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, who all wore white.

Celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, was the first to report the wedding date and associated details. He also went so far as to share the location of the event with his millions of readers (and the world) before the actual ceremony, and encouraged people to go to the location and say hi on his behalf. Playing fair?

Congratulations Beyonce' and Jay-Z! Cheers to a lifetime of wedded bliss.
